The RIVALRY RACE: Lafayette versus 15 Mile Challenge

Sunday, November 15, 2020 - 9 AM

Pick a side – run your race!

The 2nd Annual Lehigh versus Lafayette 15 mile Challenge is a one of a kind event that will be an individual challenge with a team twist!  The run will begin on Lafayette campus in Easton and end up blocks away from Lehigh in the south side of Bethlehem, PA.   During registration, runners will pick a side to support – whether it is your alma mater, a family tradition or you just like brown better than maroon or leopards more than mountain hawks…pick your side.  All runners are automatically entered into the challenge….the team with the most runners in the top 50% of finishers will earn an extra award!

In partnership with Lehigh University and Lafayette College, a portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Bethlehem and Easton Area School District Foundations in support of health and wellness activities.

Can’t swing the whole 15 — we are also working on a two-person and 3-person relay options so you don’t miss out on the fun!

Relay exchange point #1: Riverview Park at approximately 4 miles

Relay exchange point #2: Freemansburg Access Point at approximately 10 miles

This gives the following approximate distances for each leg: Leg 1 = 4, Leg 2 = 6, Leg 3 = 5  (teams of two combine as desired –> a 4 and 11 or a 10 and 5)

*Relay teams must provide their own transportation*

The Course:

The course will begin in the middle of Lafayette campus at the intersection of Hamilton and High.  Runners will then run through campus, getting on College Ave and then 3rd Street.  Runners will make the left hand turn on 3rd Street and run through the center of Easton, over the 3rd Street Bridge.  Runners will then turn left off the bridge, through the lot and catch up on the D&L Trail.  Runners will run primarily on the D&L trail to Bethlehem where they will end up on Sand Island.  Runners will cross over the Fahy Bridge to land in South Side for the finish and after party!

***4-hour course cut-off***

Bethlehem road closures over the Fahy Bridge until 1 PM.  We will not take runners off the course, but all runners must move to sidewalk at that time to finish
